I am a very common girl from Kolkata. And I built this brand. So can you.
No rags-to-riches story. No dramatic moment. Just a woman who paid attention to small things and eventually built something real from them.
THE FRAGRANCE THING
I noticed it long before I understood it.
The smell of my mother making narikel naru in the kitchen. The warmth from a bakery I was walking past on a bad day. A coffee shop that lifted my mood before I had even stepped inside. I was not analysing it then. I just knew that a smell could change how I felt instantly, without asking permission.
12 YEARS OF WRITING
Writing found me. I did not find it.
After graduation, I looked for work I could do online and writing was on my list because we had been writing essays since childhood. I signed up on a freelancing platform, built a portfolio, and got my first project in two months. The client left a 5-star rating. That was enough. Projects came, clients returned, international work followed.
THE TURNING POINT
I started wanting something completely my own.
Not a service. Not another way of selling my hours. A product. A brand. Something I could hold in my hands and say: I made this. That thought stayed with me for years until 2025, when I finally stopped waiting and built Embelure.
THE STORY THAT STAYS
My first exhibition was in Gariahat.
I had assumed my buyers would mostly be women. The first person who stopped at my stall was a man, somewhere between 30 and 40. He did not ask many questions. He picked up a few candles, smelled them, and went quiet for a moment. Then he said something close to wow and bought the Velvet Obsession candle without much deliberation at all.
FOUNDER'S LETTER
A note from me.
I built Embelure because I kept buying fragrance products that did not deliver what they promised and I believed I could do better. Every candle, every roll-on, every attar in this collection was made with that intention. Not to look impressive. To actually work.
I am a common girl with average marks and a restless need to learn things. If I can build this, you can build whatever it is you keep thinking about.
